Overview - Join us on a three day trekking trip and experience the diversity that Thailand's premiere national park has to offer. You will get a chance to explore Doi Inthanon's unique flora and fauna and learn about the Karen hill tribes way of life in an un spoilt village which is nestled high up in the mountains. On the second night you will really get close to Inthanon's nature as you camp out by a spectacular seven tier waterfall and you are taught how to cook and survive jungle style using traditional Karen methods of bamboo cooking. This is a challenging trek with none of the commercialization of other treks that respects the fact that you are trekking in Thailand's premiere national park and offers an all too rare chance to venture into a working hill tribe village and learn local ways of life.
Day 1 - On the fist day we have an early start. we then drive to a local market to stock up and head to our inthanon drop off, Mae ya Waterfall - Its one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Thailand! after lunch we start our3 hour hike to a local Karen village and home stay with a hill tribe family in order to take time to learn about hill tribe culture and the unique ways of the Karen people. This is a rare opportunity to experience a genuine insight into a working village in today's commercialized trekking scene. Its also home to the small village school which is supported by Barking Gecko travel.
Day 2 - There's an opportunity to wake up early help out and learn about everyday village life. You could pop into the school or or learn about the local farming methods. Following breakfast will will commence the days trekking. Today will be hard work but rewarding with 6 hours trekking through the pristine national park to our final destination of the day a 7 tier gem of a waterfall rarely visited by tourists, along the mountain paths we will pass Hmong villages and their cultivation of crops. Overnight will be spent by the waterfall where you will have plenty of chance to get involved with the cooking of the evening meal using traditional Karen bamboo methods of cooking - jungle style.
Day 3 - After a hearty breakfast we will set out on a 3 hour trek deep into the national park tour our pick up point. From here we will take a drive to Doi Inthanon's peak via the stunning viewpoints at the Royal pagodas. After taking a late lunch will will head back to Chiang Mai.
